The ULTIMATE Friday Flabber

Miracles still exist and we experienced one today.

Really it is under the classification of "miracle." Not the "made wedding feast out of five breads" type of miracle, nor the "raising the dead" type--but it is darn near it.

The neon passed DEQ today.

You read that right.

The spunky, guttering, shaking, shimmering, dumping-something-out-of-me car surpassed our expectations. Granted they were not much, therefore they were surpassed.

It did help that Zach spent his entire spring break being a grease monkey. His manly duty that I am not suppose take away.

But, the girl passed.

I gave her a gold star.

You never know what you will see out the window when bored...

Winter has dashed our spring hopes. For 2.3 minutes.

I am stuck looking at this:

While listening to this:

Yeah, that is when I took the picture. We are at 1:09:15 now.

I glanced to my right, which is always a dangerous past time.

Snow.

2.3 minutes later sunshine and this nice reflection on the condo door.

Happy Thursday!

PS: I am still stuck on the phone. Time: One hour and twenty minutes. Saving the planet from toxic gases and bad building practices is tough.

Hunting for car parts and leaks is not as fun as hunting for Easter eggs

Yesterday dawned drizzly and with the air of trouble.

After being unmercfully awakened by my husband, we donned our Easter dress and headed to church. We made it .00001 mile before we realized we had a flat. Not just a little flat tire. A smushed flat tire.

After the blank stares and "oh geezs", we traipsed to our trusty steed--the Neon. All was well until our return journey home. The alternator is going out. Well, the majority of the neon is going out. But nonetheless it was not the best ride home. So Zach parked it in front of the CRV. He changed the tire.

I made scones.

We were armed with our goodies and close to departure when we realized the neon was dumping a non water soluable solution on the ground. The yellow arrow points to the dump.

We laughed to keep from screaming, ran to the CRV and peeled away (on our spare tire)!

Did I mention that last Easter the neon was ridiculously keyed?!

We had a fantastic brunch with our life group with scrumptious food.
We are a crazy bunch eating brunch.

PS. Next Easter I am hiding our vehicles under a Invisibility Cloak surrounded by bubble wrap and a nasty, mean tiger.

My confession

They are little. Nothing bad really happens. Who does not envision a world when kids say "please", "thank you", and "may we help you save the day"?

My confession: I like the Boxcar Children series.

I have read a lot of them, and am secretly on a quest to read the entire series. I think I have about 30 books to go. The same plot is in every book, but the Boxcar children are faced with varying obstacles in different settings. These are good books for the "I do not want to think anymore" days or your hands are tired from holding heavy books.

Knights, lances, and stone lions with a touch of magic

I immensely enjoy juvenile fiction these days. With JK Rowling penning Harry Potter, she seemed to have upped the juvenile fiction writing ante.

I stumbled across this book while perusing Powells one evening. It was a quick read intermingled with moments of laughter.

Igraine is about to turn twelve. Though her parents and brother are magicians, Igraine does not want a part in that world. She dreams of armor, jousting, and tournaments. She wants to be a knight! This is a story when magic goes wrong and knights can still save the day.

The Fun of the Irish

It was a whirlwind weekend of festivities.

Saturday dawned with the rallying of the Mosaic Event Team to produce a ton of green pancakes for a leadership gathering. I have the best team in the upper 28 states! They rock and I love solving the problems of the world with them.

Sunday dawned chilly but an outlook of dryness for the 30th Annual Shamrock Run. Last year I was triple dog dared for this run. I diligently trained, ran the darn 3.2 miles and got hooked! This year, Melissa and I reached beyond ourselves and recruited more individuals to partake in this lively run. We were the Green Tinkertoes and we had a blast!

Diana kicked our butt. She is the one wearing green.

My highlight was running beside the six pack of beer: six individuals wearing beer hats tied together with the plastic rings.

Thirty minute workout equals a day of "i accomplished something cool" feeling.

The uber sore legs and tweaked knee are another story.

Friday Flabbers: Birthday Edition

This week has been designated "Happy Birthday to me" week. So in honor of my birth, I will name the top five things you would be without if it were not for me. ha ha! Just kidding!

In all honesty I have hit writer's wall. I have been penning documents all day for work. So I think I will just state the top five things I like that are green, in honor of the anniversary of my birthday, St. Patrick's Day.

1. Green Beans
2. Leeks
3. Leaves
4. Grass
5. Frogs
Ok, I did not hurt myself. Here is a to a FULL weekend.

PS: Special shout out to my friend, Steff (the one in the middle), who is on a mad dash of loosing weight and doing a great blog about the situation: http://www.livingfree08.blogspot.com/. She gave me a birthday shout in yellow. When she thinks of me, she thinks of yellow. Ahhhh.

Birthday Shenanigans

I do love birthdays!

Monday night a group of us took our hungry stomachs to Sushiland. Sushi has become my new favorite food group. I know I am loved when my friend, Mike, Mr. Only-meat-cheese-bread eating carnivore graced a Sushi restaurant. He looks happy and did not die; nor did he become a convert to sushi.

That is ok, Melissa loves it.

After feasting, we took a field trip to Channel 8 headquarters! Chad is one of their editors, so we got to see the behind the scenes. It was awesome. In all actuality, I think we went to show Cassie off, but it happened to be my birthday!

At small group last night, Mike made scrumptous homemade funfetti cupcakes. He is Ben Crocker, husband to Betty Crocker.

If the cupcakes were not your forte, root beer floats were available. We have learned this group can blaze through a thing of ice cream and root beer. Floats are the hot item.

27: Happy Birthday to me!

The dawned with a cheery phone call from my mom and a snotty-nosed-gasping-for-air husband to my left. Ah, the day of turning 27. Who knew that this punk...

...could become this....

In the scheme of things, 27 is not that signicant. But in a moment of wonder, I wikipediad "27". Below is the result:

The number of completed, numbered piano concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his birthday (27 January 1756).

The age in years at which many famous rock/blues musicians died, often referred to as the 27 Club. (Eck! I do not want to be a part of that!)

A number which American parodist "Weird Al" Yankovic hides somewhere in many of his songs and videos.

The number of "8 by 10 color glossy pictures with circles and arrows" in the song Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie.

The number 27 is known as the East Bay Punk scene's number.

The punk band The Adicts use the number 27 in many song lyrics and released an album entitled "27".

"27" is name of a song by Scottish band Biffy Clyro from their 2002 album, Blackened Sky.

The Dave Matthews Band began playing a song entitled #27 on their 2007 summer tour. It was also frequently played by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds on their past tour together.
Gilles Villeneuve's famous Ferrari number now adopted by his son, Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve in his NASCAR debut.
The total number of letters in the Hebrew alphabet (22 regular letters and 5 final consonants)
The number of letters in the Spanish alphabet.
The current number of Amendments to the United States Constitution.
The modal age of the peak performance year for major league baseball position players, according to a commonly accepted theory by sabermetrician Bill James.

The code for international direct-dial phone calls to South Africa.

The designation (I-27) of a US interstate highway in Texas.

The designation (US 27) of a United States national highway from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Miami, Florida.

The name of a popular cigarette, Marlboro Blend No. 27.

The number of outs in a regulation Professional baseball game for each team.

"The Bankers Case" on the U.S. Version of Deal or No Deal.

The name of a book by William Diehl, "27".

Who knew 27 was so popular! I look forward to what 28 wikipediaing may bring.

As a side note, check out these awesome tulips I got at work today! Plus, I got to leave the office for lunch with my co workers! It was scrumptious and fun!

Happy Birthday to me!

The view from my bouncy ball

I am sitting on my fitness ball today.

I looked out my window while doing some crunches and I saw this:

I believe warm weather makes plastic disappear from construction projects.

I must watch what I do from my knees down. Bleck.

Friday Flabbers

Ahh, the first week of March.

1. Small group: This rag tag group of individuals brings such joy to my week. We love to eat, laugh, learn, laugh, eat, learn, and fill a night with smiles. This week was our feast night and it lasted into the wee hours of the night.

2. I have begun the book, How to Shit Around the World. I have been in laughing stitches since the beginning. Prepare for the review.

3. I have been celebrating birthdays all week with many more to come! Happy Birthday to the universe.

4. I found this picture of my sister on my computer. I giggled. My sister is a favorite person of mine for many reasons. I love to laugh with her. I love hearing her teaching stories. I love the tales of baking cupcakes. Most of all, I am so PROUD of her! She just passed her KTIP, which in Kentucky means teaching hell. She is a bonafide teacher to those cute little rascals.

5. As I type this blog message my dad is in the midst of a super quadruple heart bypass surgery. A week ago he had chest pains, but no imminent heart attack. He was referred to a cardiologist and scheduled for a heart catherization this morning. During the procedure it was discovered he had six blockages. He was immediately taken to surgery.

My mom is keeping me updated, but the family is in a bit of a tizzy. Kentucky is under blizzard conditions--my sister is stuck in Paducah, my brother is on his way to Florida to board a cruise ship, and I am on the other side of the continent. Interesting times for the Frazier family.

The view from my rolly chair: right side

My initial "View from my rolly chair" post was met with inquiries about the right side of my office. Since it is sunny and I am not running around like a chicken with its head cut off, I will give you a tour.

Immediately to my right is the right side of my desk. This view includes pictures, phone, scissors, ruler, tape, and water jug (filled with the good stuff for those hard days!).

With a bit more swivel, I look at my bookcase with pictures, a daily tangram calendar (10 seconds today!), African safari, and all things I desperately need to make my job work: binders!

Another kick of the swivel leading leg, I see my window, my alternate chair, and the piece of paper declaring I took classes and know what I am doing. Remember I told you my window was one I had to stoop a bit to peer out. I was not lying.

This is my view if I do lunges, back bends, or a touch-my-toes activity. Plastic. I thought we lived in a green crazed city?

Peering further while streching those hamstrings, I can see lots of brick and concrete. Sustainable materials for sure.

Druzella has busted into her sonnet!

The excitement has been building for the past week. Today, as I tuned into a webinar, I looked to my left and giggled. Underneath the sparkly sunshine, Druzella could not contain herself any longer. We have blooms!

I had to run outside to capture these beauties! The house in the background is home to an elusive group of humans whom I never see, but their trash appears in our trash can daily. Seriously, one yellow recycling bin can handle a limited amout of beer bottles.

Back to the beauty.

It makes me want to wear flip flops!

Happy March!

A quick note to wish all a Happy March! I love the month of March for many reasons, one including the celebration of my birthday all month long (by me). Hooray!
